City Council Update, December 16, 2024

City council approved routine budget amendments, reviewed the latest financial reports, temporarily reopened Dorothea at Coolidge, and accepted a grant for ADA playground work.

December 16, 2024, Regular Meeting

Council approved amendments to the 2024-25 budget and reviewed the budget-to-actual report for the quarter ending September 30, 2024. Because it is the first quarter of the city's fiscal year, there weren't many changes.

Dorothea will temporarily be reopened at Coolidge. Meanwhile, plans are being developed to close it off again and hold activities to get feedback for developing a permanent plaza.

It was announced that Mike McGuinness is stepping down as DDA Director. His energy, creativity, and all the work he has done for our downtown will be missed.

Mayor Dean continues her road show, visiting various places to provide the community a chance to engage. Her next event is at Sum Girls Boutique at 3015 12 Mile from 6-8pm.

December 18, 2024, Special Meeting

Because of a scheduling technicality, a public hearing was held on Wednesday so we could receive a federal grant.

The money will be used to replace the mulch in a playground with a soft surface and ADA-compliant sidewalks.
