For over eight years, I've been providing meeting summaries to the community. So why did I stop?
It never should have been my role to provide these updates. They always should have come from the city.
However, because I care deeply about open communication and transparency, while the city wasn't providing these updates, I stepped in to fill the gap.
Thanks to my continued advocacy, the city started sharing regular meeting updates on their news page and on social media.
They've been reliably providing these for a few months now, and they're accurate summaries of what went on.
That means my summaries are no longer needed.
However, I know many people appreciate receiving these updates via email. I've asked the city to do that as well, but they haven't yet. So if you're signed up for my email newsletter, I'll continue to share the city's updates in your inbox.
I’ll still post occasionally about city issues and initiatives. I’m just as engaged as ever. But I’m encouraged to see the city take up this work.
